Dr Ian Weisberg is a trailblazer in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, celebrated for his technical expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to advancing treatment options for heart rhythm disorders. With a career spanning decades, his impact reaches far beyond clinical success—touching communities, shaping medical programs, and mentoring the next generation of cardiac specialists.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Dr Ian Weisberg demonstrated excellence early in life, achieving “All Southwest” recognition as a student-athlete in soccer and contributing to a national tennis championship team while at Duke University. He then began his academic journey at Emory University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics while completing premedical studies. As a Phi Beta Kappa honoree, his academic rigor was complemented by international experiences at the London School of Economics and the Institute of Italian Studies in Florence, Italy. He later returned to Emory to complete his M.D., laying a strong foundation for a dynamic medical career.
His postgraduate training brought Dr Ian Weisberg back to Texas for an Internal Medicine residency at UT Southwestern’s Parkland Memorial Hospital. He then pursued a cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow. His passion for cardiac electrophysiology led him to the University of Chicago, where he completed dual fellowships in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology and Advanced EP, focusing on AFib ablation, Watchman device implants, and cutting-edge pacemaker and defibrillator technologies.
Dr Ian Weisberg first made his mark in Pensacola, Florida, where he established one of the region’s first fully integrated electrophysiology labs at Gulf Breeze Hospital. His dedication to improving access to care earned him the We Care Doctor of the Year award in Escambia County in both 2012 and 2014. Notably, he was one of the earliest adopters of the Biotronik DX ICD, underlining his commitment to innovation and patient-first care.
His success in Pensacola laid the groundwork for expanding advanced EP services to Okaloosa County. Dr Ian Weisberg was instrumental in launching the electrophysiology program at North Okaloosa Medical Center and in performing complex procedures—including ablations and Watchman implants—at HCA Fort Walton-Destin.
In January 2025, Dr Ian Weisberg founded Emerald Coast Heart & AFib, the first and only clinic in the region solely dedicated to heart rhythm and atrial fibrillation care. This specialized practice now serves patients across Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties, offering personalized, leading-edge treatments in a setting designed for comprehensive cardiac care.
Outside of medicine, Dr Ian Weisberg is a dedicated father and avid sports fan. His balanced approach to life mirrors his professional philosophy: combine skill with compassion, and innovation with service. Through each patient interaction and every clinical milestone, Dr Ian Weisberg continues to redefine what it means to lead in cardiac electrophysiology.
